Brooklyn Ed’s New York Burlesque Calendar

A brief listing of regular burlesque shows and somewhat related cabaret, circus, variety and vaudeville events in the New York area of which I am aware (locations in Manhattan unless otherwise noted).  Click on a day of the week to bring up a listing of upcoming events for that day.

Voting is now open at 21st Century Burlesque for the Burlesque Top 50 of 2015!

Vote for a minimum of FIVE Burlesque Industry Figures of 2015 (with the option to vote for up to TEN). You can vote for performers (solo, duet, troupe, cast, legends) AND non-performers. Please consider not just performers but all those who contribute to burlesque and our community (e.g., producers, photographers, costumiers, stage managers, teachers, curators, writers, industry journalists, etc.) and vote with 2015 in mind rather then just voting your all time favorites!

Items to note:

·      PlayMe Burlesque Cards (Maggie Saniewska) hosts A Burlesque Art Revue, opening night for her photo exhibit at An Beal Bocht Café (445 W. 238 St, the Bronx), on Dec\. 5th at 8; the exhibit will run thru Jan. 4th.

·       Sodom by the Sea Salon, an art exhibit presented by Coney Island USA at the Shooting Gallery/Arts Annex (1214 Surf Ave, Brooklyn) is on view weekends through Feb. 7, 2016.

REMEMBER: This list is far from complete and is subject to change as schedules and venues may suddenly change. Check any links beforehand for last minute schedule changes and ticket/cover charges. (Note that many of these events are also listed on FaceBook.) I try to update this listing at the start of the week so let me know via e-mail of other shows or updates at least a week in advance.

There are a large number of annual burlesque related events in New York worth noting: Burlesque at the Beach; the Coney Island Mermaid Parade (June); Coney Island Rockabilly Festival; and, of course, the New York Burlesque Festival.  Aside from the big national events such as the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas and Tease-O-Rama, there are a growing number of regional multiday festivals in the US and Canada. For a partial listing, click here for Brooklyn Ed’s Burlesque Festival Calendar (updated for 2016).   You can also check out the Festivals listings from Maxwell Wood and  RiRI SynCyr.
